Fort Parker Fall Camping Trip

Posted: November 8th, 2016 | Author: | Filed under: Uncategorized | No Comments »

Pack 60 scouts and their families attended the Fall camping trip to Fort Parker State Park.   We had over 35 people in attendance braving the occasional rainfall and high 50’s overnight lows to make this trip a terrific success.   The park was having its 75th anniversary celebration on Saturday so there were multiply activities to participate in including fishing, a pontoon boat tour of the lake, free canoe and kayak use.  There were nature displays, ham radio operators a buffalo soldier talk and some vendors on site.  The boys got to try casting practice to catch a simulated fish and we even got to try our hand at using an atlatl to throw a small spear at a round target and a target boar.   Both nights included s’mores and Saturday we had a campfire program complete with skits.  We went on a few nature hikes and before leaving camp Sunday even went on a short hike to a geocache on a nature trail.

Pack 60 Webelos Attended Webelos Woods Oct. 22nd and 23rd

Posted: October 25th, 2016 | Author: | Filed under: Uncategorized | No Comments »

Webelos woods is a program to introduce Webelos rank cub scouts to boy scout packs in the area.  They get to meet with each troop and participate in an event put on but that troop.  The parents also get to visit with the troop leaders, learn about their scouting programs and events.  Our boys had a great time attending this year and enjoyed participating in all of the activities.  The evening campfire program was a highlight.  We wrapped up our Saturday night with our host troop, a campfire and s’mores.  This is the best way to meet all the troops in our area and introduce Cub Scouts to the world of Boy Scouting.
